In the course of our hectic daily lives, we tend to forget the warmth of nature and bonds between people. This program allows you to immerse yourself in the world of Japanese country life in a satoyama, an environment where people have coexisted with nature for generations in the border zone between mountain foothills and arable flat land. Visit a traditional Japanese house situated in a satoyama and immerse yourself in farming and DIY.
Get active and refresh yourself in quintessential Japanese countryside. This program provides a range of weekend activities for adults, where you can mix with locals, as well as people with two homes who divide their time between here and the city, and people who have relocated from elsewhere, and experience hillside satoyama life together. For 20 years, this traditional Japanese farmhouse and surrounding fields and mountains had been left vacant and untended. But with everyone’s love and attention, they are being brought back to life, and you too can help out with the restoration process during any of the four seasons. You can also take part in a range of workshops.

This is a satoyama regeneration project that everyone can enjoy. Participants lend their wisdom and strengths to do what they can to help out and keep things moving forward on a daily basis. Overseeing this is satoyama master Mr. Oki, who will be on hand to provide you with all the support you need.
There are also a range of events and workshops, including food-related events like a small bar or wild game BBQ, as well as open-air film screenings at night.
[Note] This program is not run in the form of a lecture by an instructor. Rather, it is mainly intended as a place of mutual learning, where people can get together in a satoyama and help out with work that needs doing while meeting local people and other residents who have moved here from elsewhere. Thank you for your understanding.
